Jun 29, 2009 9:32 PMInstead of a "debate", I suggest that, following each general topic (e.g. "seizure prediction", a panel of those presenting talks be constituted to sit as a group and respond to questions from the audience, allowing sufficient time (not, for instance, just 15 or 20 minutes) to cover the issues raised.
Jun 30, 2009 6:19 AMwell organized, good to see that the schedule was kept
Jun 30, 2009 8:44 AMIt was entertaining, and maybe worked well because there was no vote at the end. Most of the issues are not as black and white as the proposals suggested, and mostly ended with some convergence if not consensus
Jun 30, 2009 9:21 AMWas very interesting. The fact it always ended with draw is quite important. Either we are all friends or there is no clear answers ;)
Jun 30, 2009 2:07 PMThe debates were a novel and interesting addition. But I'm not completely convinced they would work as well a second time. Perhaps a different event -- a quiz, or word association game, twenty questions, etc. -- could be tried.

Jul 1, 2009 3:13 PMVERY VERY interesting.
Jul 1, 2009 5:44 PMNo.
Jul 4, 2009 6:13 AMI think it was a little hurry.
Jul 6, 2009 9:47 AMshould be a real debate session and not just presenting my recent research findings
Jul 6, 2009 8:34 PMVery informative and effective. A key to the success of the debates was the planning and preparation as well as execution by the debaters.
Jul 8, 2009 12:28 PMI'd move it to the beginning of the workshop. By the end we all know most folks' stance on the issues and the debate is less exciting.
Jul 8, 2009 7:50 PMIt was nice, I hope this session is to be continued.
Jul 9, 2009 6:59 PMfewer topics, more in depth discussion
Jul 10, 2009 5:36 AMI liked the open forum format. Keep this a part of the workshop.
Jul 10, 2009 9:08 PMmore time for discussion
Jul 22, 2009 2:05 PMAt first I was very skeptic about this idea, but I in fact liked it very much.
Jul 24, 2009 6:04 PMIt was not very useful. The theses and contr-theses are somewhat artificial. There is not really real scientific controversies in this field which would produce interesting debate. As the this debates shown the differences are usually in semantics.
Jul 24, 2009 7:00 PMNo
Jul 25, 2009 8:35 AMIt was an excellent idea.
Jul 27, 2009 6:24 AMPlease don't debate for debate. If a person doesn't have strong opinions on this, never assign him/her the topic to debate with another scholar just for watch.
